Network structure-dependent dynamics of a biological neural network model

(in English) Gamma frequency (20-80 Hz) oscillation observed in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus has been suggested to be synchronous activities in the interneuron network. In this study, a model of interneuron network proposed by Wang & Buzsaki is extended to study the effect of spatial network structure and time delay for synaptic interaction on the gamma-range synchronous neural activities. It is shown that 'Small-World' topology increases the gamma-range synchronization of neural activities. In addition, synaptic delay also gives increase of the synchronization.
