Automatic Parsing of American Football Videos by Intermodal Collaboration

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes a method of automatic parsing of American football
videos based on rules about the flows of an American football game.
Combining the results of play scene boundary detection and
overlay detection based on template matching of image color features
enables us to segment the video into semantically meaningful units of a game.
After temporally associating game situation information extracted from the
detected overlay and event information extracted from
the text stream to the obtained video segments, we parse the sequence of
the video segments based on defined rules of the sports.
