A study on electromagnetic field caused by high-speed power line communication in multi-dwelling unit building

(in English) High-speed power line communication on HF band (PLC) has attracted attention because of its convenience and economical efficiency. The effect on the electromagnetic field was investigated when the PLC modem was adopted in a multi-dwelling unit building. The shielding effectiveness of this building and the interference to a short wave broadcasting radio were quantified. It was found that the field strength due to the PLC at the point of one meter from the outside of this building was smaller than the background noise level, and was also found that a short wave band radio had not been interfered by PLC at the outside of this building. Those results suggest that a short wave broadcasting would be compatible with the PLC adoption.
