Notes on a Class of Weakly Self-Dual Codes based on Generalized Reed-Solomon Codes

(in English) In this report, we investigate a class of generalized Reed-Solomon (GRS) codes which are weakly self-dual (w.s.d.) from the viewpoint of the relationship to Reed-Solomon (RS) codes. We derive a sufficient condition in which GRS codes are w.s.d. The followings are obtained for GRS codes satisfying the sufficient condition : (1) if the code length $n=2^m-1$ or $n=2^m$, then the resultant w.s.d. GRS codes are RS codes or extended RS codes, respectively, and (2) if the code length $n<2^m-1$, then the resultant w.s.d. GRS codes are not modified RS codes but pure GRS codes. Moreover, it is shown that even if the above sufficient condition is not satisfied, the w.s.d. GRS codes can be specified for code length $n<2^m-1$, and that those codes are modified RS codes.
