Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Exploiting time-varying fluctuations of wireless networks by channel-state-aware schedulers plays an essential role to enhance throughput performance of elastic data traffics. In high-speed wireless packet networks, various types of channel-state-aware schedulers have been proposed and evaluated. In our study, in order to respond to the variety of the base station management, we have also proposed a unified scheduler which can unify few typical existing schedulers, and clarified that the proposed scheduler can flexibly vary its characteristics by adjusting its parameters. However, the performance of channel-state-aware schedulers has been extensively studied at a packet level, where it is often assumed that infinite backlogs or elastic data are stored in packet-transmission nodes. In view of the fact that the use of the Internet application will be increased in the future wireless networks, the detailed performance evaluation is indispensable considering practical TCP/IP network environment. Therefore, in this paper, we will evaluate the detailed performance characteristics of channel-state-aware schedulers by carrying out network simulations, where flow level traffic characteristics with finite file size are taken into account and the network condition varies due to cross traffics. In particular, we will show three parameter-setting examples of proposed unified scheduler at flow level, which demonstrate the flexibility and effectiveness of the unified scheduler in the practical network environment.
