The Home Interlinking Network (HIN) and its architecture are proposed as a means to support the increasing number of elderly people in Japan. The HIN requires no control servers, such as routers, so that the cost of communication is reduced. In the HIN, the only nodes are personal computers in individual homes that will be connected directly by inexpensive links, such as plastic optical fiber or UWB. Because of this setup, powering off an individual personal computer on the network will cut the network link at that computer, which ends access across that computer. Therefore, an HIN architecture is developed herein that uses network connectors that make the flooding to bypass powered-off personal computers, so that autonomous self routing is realized. |
