Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We experimentally investigate the wavelength conversion characteristics of 160 GHz pulse train based on the four-wave mixing in a highly nonlinear fiber. In the case of high pump power input, the conversion efficiency is enhanced through a parametric gain and achieved to -5 dB, while the parametric gain degrades an optical-signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) of the converted pulse train. Nevertheless, OSNR is still as high as 38 dB at the conversion efficiency of -5 dB in this experiment. In addition, it is shown that characteristics of the converted pulse train depends strongly on that of nonlinear fiber propagation of the input pump pulse train.
