A New Traffic Control Paradigm using Overlay Networks

(in English) In this paper, we propose a traffic control paradigm using overlay networks which are logical networks over IP networks in the Internet scale. Its key technologies are dynamic topology configuration and Quality of Service (QoS) routing based on IP-layer information measured in real time. The control paradigm is expected to enable end-to-end QoS and global load-balancing through multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
