Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The bidomain model is a partial differential equation model that describes electric behavior of the heart tissue. In numerical computation of the model, it is necessary to solve a large system of linear equations and hence an efficient method is needed. To this end, various known methods of solving a system of linear equations were examined from points of view of memory size, computation time, and accuracy. The algorithms include the Gauss- elimination, the Gauss-Jordan, and the LU decomposition methods as a direct one, and the successive-over-relaxation (SOR) and the conjugate-gradient methods as an iterative one. We also used the monodomain model as well as the MATLAB engines for reference. The SOR method showed satisfactory performance in computation time among others. The direct methods, though good in both computation time and accuracy, proved to be impractical in larger media.
