Effects of PSF correction and TOF on image quality and quantification in brain PET images

(in English) It is known that point spread function (PSF) correction and time of flight (TOF) contribute to improve the image quality of PET images. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of PSF correction and TOF on the image quality of brain PET images and the measured radioactivity of each pixel. The effect on image quality was evaluated as the sum of the edge intensities, and the sum of the edge intensities increased for PSF correction, TOF, and PSF+TOF. The effects on the pixel value were evaluated by using pixel value curves and by applying the images to the standard brain and dividing it into 11 categories. In the evaluation of the pixel value curve, the peak of the curve increased by more than 16% in all conditions. In contrast, the maximum increase was about 3.8% when applied to the standard brain.
