基礎・境界ソサイエティは，電子情報通信の基礎と境界領域をカバーする，幅広い研究分野を含んでいます．任期制ポストの増加などの理由により，現在は若手研究者をとりまく環境が良いとは言い切れません．いま本会は新しいビジネスモデルへ移行している最中ですが，ウィズコロナの時代に，次世代を担う若手研究者を取り込みながら様々な研専が魅力的な活動を続けられるように，効果的なサポートができるソサイエティの体制を考えていきたいと思います．

［プロフィール］

1990年東京大学工学部計数工学科卒．1995年東京大学工学系研究科計数工学専攻博士課程修了．同年，東京大学工学部助手，1999年筑波大機能工学系講師．現在，筑波大学システム情報系教授．本会にて，情報理論とその応用サブソサイエティ長，英文論文誌編集幹事，情報理論研究専門委員会幹事を歴任．この他，IEEE Information Theory Japan Chapter Chair，情報理論とその応用学会(現SITAサブソ)庶務理事などを務めた．主に，シャノン理論，情報セキュリティに関する研究に従事．

［Statement］

The Engineering Science Society (ESS) covers various research fields on fundamentals of electronics, information and communications. Due to the increase of fixed-term posts, it cannot be said that the environment surrounding young researches are good. I will try to pursue supports to various research groups in ESS so that the younger researchers enjoy their research activities under the transitioning to a new business model of IEICE and the pandemic of COVID-19.

［Biography］

Hiroki Koga received the B.E., M.E. and D.E. degrees from University of Tokyo in 1990, 1992 and 1995, respectively. He is currently a professor at Faculty of Systems and Information Engineering, University of Tsukuba. He served as Chair of Information Theory and its Applications Subsociety, Editor of IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences and Director of IEICE Information Theory Technical Committee. He was Chair of IEEE Information Theory Japan Chapter and a BoG member of the Society of Information Theory and its Applications (merged to IEICE). His interest includes Shannon theory and information security.
