Society 5.0は、サイバー空間とフィジカル空間を高度に融合させたシステム実現を目指すもので、COVID-19による困難な状況のもとでサイバーフィジカル空間(CPS)での共生社会に踏み入り、その実現が加速された面があります。ICTはこれを可能にし・支え・さらなる新世界を開拓する基盤となっています。社会は以前に完全に戻ることは望むべくもなく、本会は21世紀の新世界を創出する中核学会として進んでいくことになります。本会は100周年を祝ったのち、種々の社会の変化に応じた改革に取り組んでおり、これからそれを加速させ、ここ30年の2050年までのロードマップを構築して、本会として高度なICT技術によってCPS社会に貢献していくことが望まれています。諸々の課題としては、本会として科学技術情報の発信、国際レベルの取組の推進が必要です。ICTそのものが既にデジタルトランスフォーメーションによって情報発信はネットワークを通してとなり、その変革された社会で産学官連携そして世界が小さくなった中での本会の強みを生かし伸ばしていくことが肝要です。会員もジュニア世代からシニア世代まで幅広くサービス提供をし、また会員が自ら参加して社会をさらに活性化することに貢献できればと思います。

［プロフィール］

本会活動：副会長、基礎・境界ソサイエティ会長、編集理事、編集特別幹事、企画室幹事、和英論文誌A・FR誌編集委員長、情報・システムソサイエティ庶務幹事等。 略歴：東大計数1981年卒、情報工学1986年修了、工学博士。1986年九大情報工学助教授を経て、1990年より東大情報科学、現在同コンピュータ科学教授。JST ERATO今井量子計算機構プロジェクト研究総括(2000-2005年), ERATO-SORST量子情報システムアーキテクチャプロジェクト研究総括(2006-2011年)。量子計算・最適化の研究開発に従事。SPARC Japan委員等科学技術発信に貢献。

［Statement］

Society 5.0 project proposed by the Japanese Government aims at connecting Cyberspace and Physical Space together to make a new Cyber-Physical Space (CPS). By severe situations caused by COVID-19, people had to enter this CPS world with considerable amount such as remotework, online conferences, and will continue to live in this for future, where Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been playing a key role in realizing this new world. IEICE celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2017, and now has been working to a variety of issues to pursue social innovation and found this new word for the 21st century with accelerating making changes for establishing people-friendly and valuable CPS system. IEICE should now plan to formulate a roadmap to 2050, and, fully using ICT, may tackle it as targets. As issues ranging widely among many subjects to achieve such CPS, we should advance internet and communication technologies more, like an instance of digital transformation in publishing transactions and conference proceedings digitally, introduced at the end of 20th century to disseminate technological and social information in the field of science and technology more. In this regard, Open Access movement may be pushed for serving the world in CPS as establishing knowledge of people worldwide, with keeping IEICE finance sustainable for the next 30 years. Industry-Government-University collaboration from education to R&D in IEICE may be pursued to create sound and safe CPS society. IEICE members, from junior generation to senior generation, may enjoy activities inside, and also contributing them to our ICT-based CPS world.

［Biography］

Previous appointments in IEICE: Vice President, Engineering Sciences Society President, Vice Director of Journal and Transactions, Secretary of Planning Committee, Editor-in-Chief of IEICE Transaction of Fundamentals (both English/Japanese ones), IEICE ESS Fundamentals Review, ISS General Secretary. Biography: B. Eng. and D. Eng. from the University of Tokyo, 1981 and 1986, respectively. Associate Professor at Kyushu University from 1986, moved to the University of Tokyo in 1990, and now a professor in computer science there. JST ERATO Quantum Computation and Information Project Leader during 2000-2011.　Contributions to Quantum Computing and Optimization, and also to Dissemination of Science and Technology as SPARC Japan Committee member.
