［所信表明］

社会的課題の解決や持続可能な開発目標の達成を目指す上で、情報通信技術に対する社会的期待はますます高まっています。その中で情報・システム分野は、情報の世界と現実の世界とをつなぐ接点、情報基礎技術の開拓とその社会への適用とを取り持つ接点として重要な役割を担っています。私は、その一層の発展のために、日本における当分野の研究コミュニティの強化を主眼として、本会の構成メンバーのメリットの向上に貢献していきたいと考えています。この目的を達するため、論文誌などの出版活動においては、近年のオープンアクセス化の潮流も踏まえ、和英両論文誌の新たな意義の確立に取り組んでいきたいと思います。また大会や研究会活動においては、技術や社会の将来動向を見据えた企画の支援、企業とアカデミアの間などでの情報交換や人的つながりの促進、若手研究者の育成と活躍機会の提供、および若年の学生に向けた企画の充実などに取り組んでいきたいと思います。併催などによる関連学会等との協力や広範な分野を扱う本会のソサイエティ/グループ間での連携の充実も図りながら、情報・システム技術とその研究コミュニティの豊かな未来に貢献していきたいと思います。

［プロフィール］

1990年東大・工・電子卒。1995年東大院・工学系研究科・電気工学専攻博士課程修了。博士(工学)。同年よりNTTに勤務。同社コミュニケーション科学基礎研究所メディア情報研究部長などを経て、現在同社上席特別研究員。東京大学大学院情報理工学系研究科客員教授、国立情報学研究所客員教授を兼務。音・画像・動画などのメディア情報処理の研究に従事。本会業績賞、情報・システムソサイエティ活動功労賞、文部科学大臣表彰科学技術賞、IEEE Transactions on Multimedia 論文賞などを受賞。本会フェロー、情報・システムソサイエティ副会長(技術会議担当)。これまでにパターン認識・メディア理解(PRMU)研究専門委員会副委員長、MIRU2014運営委員長、FIT2019プログラム委員長などを担当。

［Statement］

In order to solve the various social problems we face and achieve the sustainable development goals, social expectations for information and communications technology are increasing. In particular, the information and systems field plays an important role as the interface between the information world and the real world, as well as a point of contact between the development of fundamental information technology and its application to society. I would like to contribute to the further development of the research community in this field, and to the improvement of the benefits to the IEICE members, while strengthening cooperation with other relevant academic societies and among the societies within IEICE. In order to achieve this goal, with regard to the journal publication activities, I would like to work on establishment of new roles and strengths for both of the journals in Japanese and English in light of the recent trend toward open access. For the conferences and the technical group activities, I would like to work on support of events that have a broad perspective looking at trends in technology and society, promotion of interaction among people in industries and academia, and fostering young researchers and students by providing them with opportunities to play active roles.

［Biography］

Kunio Kashino is a senior distinguished researcher at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, and a visiting professor at the National Institute of Informatics. He received a B.S. degree in 1990 and a Ph.D. degree in 1995, both from the University of Tokyo. He received Achievement Awards from the IEICE in 2002 and 2017, Distinguished Service Award of IEICE-ISS in 2016, and the Commendation for Science and Technology from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan in 2007 and 2019. He is a Fellow of the IEICE, and currently a vice president of the IEICE-ISS. He served as Vice Chair of Technical Group on Pattern Recognition and Media Understanding (PRMU) from 2012 to 2014, and FIT 2019 Program Committee Chair.
