情報通信社会を支えるエレクトロニクスの重要性は年々増加しており、研究開発競争はグローバルかつ激しく行われています。その中では、単純に努力して競争に勝つのではなく、（たとえ小さくても）パラダイムシフトと呼べるような新しい技術の提案が求められます。そのためには、異分野交流等による発想の転換、若手研究者の育成など、研究者のスキルアップが重要です。 　そこで、大会や研究会を発表する場として活用するだけでなく、若手研究者同士が激しく議論、情報交換、研究連携模索（仲間づくり）をしやすくする施策を実施して行きたいと思います。また、経験豊富な年配研究者と活力ある若手研究者が、忌憚なく意見交換できる交流の場も提供して行きます。このような活動を通じ、エレクトロニクスソサイエティがよりいっそう活性化され、研究者にとって有益な場となるよう、皆様とともに尽力して行きたいと思います。

［Statement］

Electronics is very important and essential technology which supports IT society and its R&D competition is very tough. There, we have to not only work hard but also create novel technology which might be called paradigm shift even if it's small. To achieve this, change in thinking, cultivating researchers, upskilling young researchers are important. So I'd like to make friendly atmosphere in annual conferences and meetings of technical committee for researchers to encourage themselves to discuss, exchange information and build network of contact for a research collaboration. In addition, I'd like to provide our members with space and time for enjoying mixing together with young researchers and experts. I will do my best for achieving above with our members and I hope these activity will make the Electronics Society more activated and useful for researchers in this field.

［Biography］

Hiroshi Takahashi was received the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees from Tohoku University in 1988, 1988 and 1997. After Master program, I joined NTT Opto-electronics Labs and was involved in research on optical waveguide devices. He was the research group leader there in 2004-2012. He moved to Sophia University in 2013 and is now a professor in the department of information and communication sciences. In IEICE, he served as the secretary of technical committee on OptoElectronics, the secretary of the Electronics Society, the chair of editorial board of Transaction on Electronics C, the chair of technical committee on Optoelectronics and the chair of Photonics technology committee. He is a Fellow of IEICE and IEEE.
