［所信表明］

本会は創立100周年を経て、次の新たな一歩を踏み出しました。これまで本会が貢献してきたICT技術は近年著しい進展を見せ、我が国ではSociety5.0の原動力となっております。膨大な情報流通を可能とし、ビッグデータ/IoTさらにはAI技術の進展が次の世代の豊かさを実現する鍵と考えられています。本会はこれまで主に電気、情報系の研究者が中心となりICT技術の進展に寄与してきましたが、今後は「ICTxX」のXの部分、農業・漁業など１次産業から電力等社会インフラ・製造業、さらには新たな社会サービス創出など多様な分野との連携が重要になると思います。これまでの企業、国研、大学での研究経歴をベースに、本会が研究者・学生にとって魅力ある組織となるように努力いたす所存です。

［プロフィール］

1978年早稲田大学電気工学博士修了、工学博士、同年国際電信電話（株）研究所入所。2001年（株）KDDI研究所代表取締役副所長。2003年（独）通信総合研究所情報通信部門長、2006年（独）情報通信研究機構理事。2010年早稲田大学研究戦略センター教授並びに同大学グリーン・コンピューティング・ システム研究機構長。本会・応用物理学会・IEEE各フェロー。本会業績賞、MWP研専/EXAT研専委員長。科学技術庁長官賞、IEE Electronics Letters Premium Award、桜井健二郎賞、IPRM賞など受賞。

［Statement］

After 100 years of founding, IEICE has taken the next new step. ICT technologies that IEICE has contributed have shown remarkable progress in recent years. It is the driving force of Society 5.0 in our country. The enormous information circulation is possible, and the progress of big data / IoT and AI technology is considered as the key to realizing the richness of the next generation. IEICE has been mainly focused on electric and information research field. From now on, it is important to collaborate with various fields such as the X part of "ICTxX", from primary industries such as agriculture and fishery to social infrastructure such as electricity and manufacturing industry, as well as creating new social services. Based on research backgrounds at companies, national institute and university, I will make efforts to make IEICE an attractive organization for researcher and student.

［Biography］

Yuichi Matsushima received Ph.D. degree from Waseda University in 1978. After joining KDD R&D Laboratories in 1978, he has worked in the research field of optical fiber communication systems. In 2001, he was appointed to an Executive Vice President of KDDI R&D Laboratories. In 2003 he moved to Communication Research Laboratory as Executive Director of Information and Network Systems Department. From 2006, he was Vice President of National Institute of Information and Communications Technology. Since 2010, he has worked as Professor of Center for Research Strategy and Director of Green Computing System Research Organization, Waseda University. He is a Fellow of the IEICE, JSAP and IEEE. He was awarded by Japanese Science and Technology Agency Award, IEE Electronics Letters Premium Award, Achievement Award of IEICE, Kenjiro Sakurai Memorial Award and IPRM Award.
