［所信表明］

 昨年（2017年）、電子情報通信学会は創立100周年を迎え、過去を振り返り、未来を展望する様々な企画事業が行われました。この節目を、私たちのソサイエティも次の世代へ向けた変革の機会と捉えたいと思います。業界では新産業創出に向けた議論が様々なレベルで行われ、本ソサイエティも魅力ある学会を目指した施策に取り組んでいるところです。会員数の減少を増加に転じ、活力あるソサイエティを維持、発展させて行くために、仕掛中の施策を加速して進める必要があります。私は、当面の課題として、特に以下の３点の推進が重要であると考えています。

 ✓ 会員メリットの最大化と共に、新メンバー獲得に向けた大会企画、研究会企画の拡大と定着
 ✓ 技術分野の拡張と新分野の立ち上げ
 ✓ ソサイエティ活動のグローバル化、特に海外セクションとの連携、関係強化

次の時代を担う技術の進化と人材の輩出に向けて、会員の皆様とともに尽力して行きたいと思います。

［Statement］

Last year (2017), the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding, and various activities that look back on the past and toward the future were held. The Electronics society has been contributed the development of Information and Communication Engineering significantly up to now. I would like to take this opportunity of 100th anniversary to make our society more attractive for further success of the next generation. It is time to challenge for a new paradigm while inheriting the spirit of pioneers in this field. We see that discussions for creating new business models are being conducted at various levels in the industry. In order to maintain and develop a vigorous society while stopping the decrease in the number of members, it is necessary to further accelerate the measures currently underway. In particular, I believe that promoting the following three points is important for the immediate future;

 1) Attractive plans for acquiring new members as well as maximizing the
  benefits of current members,
 2) Expansion of our technical field for emerging technologies,
 3) Globalization of Society's activities, especially in cooperation with
  overseas sections.

I would like to work with everyone to make the Electronics Society better for the next era.

［Biography］

Tsugumichi Shibata graduated from the Tokyo National College of Technology in 1980 and received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1983, 1985, and 1995, respectively. In 1985, he joined NTT Corporation. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He was the chair of the Microwave Simulator Technical Group of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) from 2003 to 2005, a vice president of the IEICE Electronics Society from 2007 to 2009, and the chair of the Electronics Simulation Technical Group from 2012 to 2014. He was a director of NTT Microsystem Integration Laboratories and Device Technology Laboratories, and is now a professor of Tokyo City University.
