[所信表明]
 昨今の情報通信技術の発達は目覚ましく、これまでになく、人々の生活、各種産業への係わりを増しています。電子情報通信学会はこの発達を支えて来ましたが、今後はこの伝統を引き継ぐとともに、多様化するニーズに応えていくことが望まれると思います。調査担当理事として、国内外の様々な学会の活動を参考にし、各種専門分野、産官学等所属団体、学生からシニアまでのライフステージなど、会員各自の立場にとって魅力ある活動の場を提供できるよう、尽力して参ります。

[プロフィール]
 1985年東京大学工学部電気工学科卒業。同年三菱電機株式会社入社。以来、高速通信装置、通信トラヒック・経路設計、ニューラルネットワーク、アドホックネットワーク等の研究開発に従事。1991−1992年カリフォルニア大バークレー校客員研究員。2001年博士(工学)(東京大学)。現在、三菱電機株式会社情報技術総合研究所主管技師長。2001−2003年本会英文論文誌編集委員、2010−2014年通信ソサエティマガジン編集委員、2005年−AN・ASN研究会専門委員、2004・2014年通信ソサエティ活動功労賞受賞。

[Statement]
 Recent development of the information and communication technologies has been extraordinary and their effects on people’s lives and various industries have been increasing as never before. IEICE has been supporting this development, and responding to varieties of needs will be expected as well as continuously supplying the legacy services. As a Director responsible for International Coordination and Publicity, I will try to support IEICE to supply activity fields which are attractive for each member, with various areas of interest, various affiliation such as industry, government and academia, and various life stages from students to senior, by referring activities of various academic societies both domestic and global.

[Biography]
 Haruko Kawahigashi received the B.E. and D.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo, in 1985 and 2001, respectively. She joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in 1985, where she has been engaged in research and development of communication equipment, teletraffic control, neural networks, ad-hoc networks and mission critical networks. She is currently a chief researcher of Information Technology R & D Center of Mitsubishi Electric Corp. Japan.
 She served as associate editors of Transactions on Communications from 2001 to 2003, and Communication Society Magazine from 2010 to 2014. She has been serving as a committee member of AN (Ad-hoc Networks) and ASN (Ambient Intelligence and Sensor Networks) Committees since 2005. She received the Communication Society awards in 2004 and 2014.
