ビッグデータ，人工知能，IoTをはじめ，情報システムに関する活発な研究や実用化の動きが見られる一方で，日本の学会は難しい立場に立たされています．構成員の多くとって，国際的な発表や活動が求められ，様々な審査や評価を受ける昨今の状況で，学会が本当に必要な機能を提供しているか，歴史に裏付けられた影響力を保っているかどうかが問われています．それに応えるためには，和文・英文論文誌の位置づけを時代の要求に合わせること，日本の特徴である研究会をより柔軟に組織・運営することなどが喫緊の課題であると考えています．これらは，本学会ヒューマンコミュニケーショングループ(HCG)の運営委員長を務めた間に痛感したことでもありますので，HCGとも連携をとりながら取り組んで行きたいと考えています．

[プロフィール]
1990京都大学大学院博士課程了，同大助手，筑波大学助教授などを経て，京都大学学術情報メディアセンター教授．京都大学博士（工学）．画像・映像処理，筋電などの生体信号処理，インタラクションの研究に従事．PRMU研究会副委員長，MVE研究会専門委員長，HCG運営委員長などを歴任．

[Statement]
We are, nowadays, glad to see advanced research activities and a wide variety of applications in big data analysis, artificial intelligence, IoT, etc. tightly related to Information and System Society (ISS). On the other hand, academic societies in Japan are facing difficulties. Members are more and more requested international publications and activities, and are evaluated based on them. We have responsibility for providing the functions necessary for members, and responsibility for well maintaining academic reliability and authority established through our long history. Concerning this problem, we have two urgent issues : making Japanese and English transactions to fit the demands of members, and making the organization and management of technical groups more flexible. These issues had been also keenly recognized while I worked as the chair of Human Communication Group (HCG) of IEICE. I would like to tackle these issues in cooperation with HCG.

[Biography]
He received Ph.D in Engineering from Kyoto University. His research fields are image and video processing, physiological sensing including electromyography, and HCI and human-human interactions. He contributed IEICE as the vice chair of the PRMU, the chair of MVE, and the director of the HCG.
