[Statement]
The role of IEICE has been changing along the globalization of the scientific research. It is even more important for IEICE to support Japanese industries in information, communication and electronics from
the global perspective. At the same time, IEICE should establish its academic presence outside Japan, especially in Asia-Pacific region, recognizing the 10% of members are overseas. Furthermore, the
traditional role of IEICE to develop students and young engineers remains important. It is a big challenge to keep the membership of young engineers working in the industry after the graduation. I would like to serve as the Director, Journal and Transactions, to work on these challenges in cooperation with all the IEICE members.
