Information and systems technologies have become indispensable foundations that support every aspect of our lives―from daily activities to industrial and societal infrastructures. In particular, the rapid advancement of generative AI has expanded its use as a powerful tool that enhances our creativity and fosters new value creation. At the same time, concerns have emerged that excessive reliance on generative AI may diminish human judgment, weaken critical thinking, and lead to a hollowing out of knowledge. Precisely because of these circumstances, I believe that the Information and Systems Society must play a vital role in providing a “forum for co-creation” where people engage sincerely with one another and mutually enrich their knowledge. The process in which researchers, engineers, and students from diverse backgrounds come together, refine their ideas through constructive discussions―sometimes with critical perspectives―serves as a driving force that transcends boundaries between industry and academia, generations, and research domains, thereby opening new technological frontiers. To cultivate such an attractive and vibrant forum for co-creation, we will actively promote initiatives, including support for planning and operating technical meetings, further revitalization of our journals, strengthened collaboration with international conferences and workshops, and programs that encourage face-to-face interaction among our members.
