このたび通信ソサイエティ次期会長候補に推薦いただき、誠に光栄に存じます。私は長年、編集業務に携わり、本会論文誌の価値向上を目標として活動してきました。通ソ編集長時代には、EB・ComEXの掲載プラットフォームをJ-STAGEからIEEE Xploreへ移行し、非会員投稿も可能にしました。アクセス数は増加しましたが、被引用数は伸びず、Impact Factorは低迷しています。
高橋次期通ソ会長が強調される人材育成、眞田現通ソ会長が示される会員間のつながりは、学会の根幹です。この流れを論文の引用という形で結びつけ、互いの研究を尊重し合う文化を醸成できれば、研究力向上と論文誌価値向上の両立が可能です。そのため、研究専門委員会、論文誌編集、国際会議の現場の皆様と協力し、具体的な施策を共に考えていきたいと思います。言うは易く行うは難しですが、一歩ずつ、皆様と共に進めてまいります。
1988年 信州大・工・電子工卒。1990年 同大院修士課程了。1993年 慶大院博士課程了。博士（工学）。同年 名大・工・電子情報・助手。1998年 名大・情報メディア教育センター・助教授、2010年 名大・教養教育院・教授、現在、名大・教養教育院・副院長。2006年 IEEE Communication Society's Best Tutorial Paper Award、第76回本会論文賞、ほか受賞。2009-11年 和文論文誌（B）編集委員長、2013-17年 I-Scoverプロジェクト・サブリーダ、2020-22年 通ソ編集長、2022年 東海支部長。2023年 ソサイエティ大会実行委員長。現在、本会編集理事。
I am honored to be nominated as a candidate for the President-Elect of the Communications Society (CS). For many years, I have worked in editorial roles with the goal of enhancing the value of our journals. During my tenure as Editor-in-Chief, I transitioned EB and ComEX from J-STAGE to IEEE Xplore to improve global accessibility and enabled submissions from non-members. These efforts have increased access, yet citation counts remain stagnant, and the Impact Factor is still low.
Dr. Takahashi, the President-Elect of CS, emphasizes human resource development, and current CS president, Prof. Sanada highlights the importance of member connections―both are fundamental to our Society. I believe we can extend these principles into a culture of mutual respect for research, expressed through citations. If members actively reference each other’s work, we will strengthen research capabilities and raise the value of EB and ComEX.
To achieve this, I will work closely with Technical Committees, editorial boards, and international conference organizers to develop concrete measures, such as special issues on global hot topics, high-quality review papers, and international co-authorship. While these goals are challenging, I am committed to advancing them step by step, together with all of you, to further invigorate the Communications Society.
Dr. Takaya Yamazato is a professor and the Deputy Director at the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Nagoya University in Japan. He earned his Ph.D. from Keio University in 1993. In 2006, he received the IEEE Communication Society's Best Tutorial Paper Award, and in 2019, he was honored with the IEICE Best Paper Award. Additionally, he has served in various leadership roles, including Editor-in-Chief of the IEICE Transactions on Communication from 2009 to 2011, Sub-Leader of the I-Scover Project from 2013 to 2017, and Editorial Board Chair of the Communication Society from 2020 to 2022. He also held the position of Tokai Section Chair in 2022. Currently, he serves as the Director of Journals and Transactions.
