また、IEEE Solid-State Circuits SocietyにおいてAdComメンバー, VP of Membershipを務めるなど内外の活動に携わる。
The Engineering Sciences Society of IEICE was established with the concept of encompassing “all other fields,” and has since been expanding its activities across diverse disciplines. An academic society serves not only as a venue for presenting research results but also as a platform for forming networks among experts within and beyond organizations and fields. In this regard, the domain of “all other fields” will become increasingly significant going forward.
During my tenure as a IEICE Conference Committee member from the society, I organized the Society’s first-ever welcome reception, which later evolved into the current conference-wide reception, thereby fostering a culture of engagement. I believe that implementing such opportunities for interaction will become even more important going forward.
Furthermore, we seek to promote the seamless integration of the GlobalNet Workshop organized by the International Committee of IEICE, with the General and Society Conference of IEICE, while fostering an environment that is highly attractive to international students within Japan. Additionally, we aim to enhance the dissemination of information through online platforms in order to broadly communicate the value and appeal of the Society.
Makoto Ikeda received the B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from The University of Tokyo in 1991, 1993, and 1996, respectively. He joined The University of Tokyo as an Assistant Professor in 1996 and has been a Full Professor since 2013.
In addition to his research activities, he has been playing leading contributions to establishing and operating a nationwide IC design platform through the VLSI Design and Education Center (VDEC) at The University of Tokyo, founded in 1996.
Within IEICE, he has served as a Chair of Technical Committee on VLSI Design Technologies (VLD), a Chair of Technical Committee on Hardware Security (HWS), and a member of Conference Committee, under The Engineering Sciences Society, as well as a Chair of System Design Technology Sub-society. In the Electronics Society, he has served as Chair of Technical Committee on Integrated Circuits and Devices (ICD), a member of Conference Committee, and will serve as Chair of the Circuits, devices and interdisciplinary technologies committee group in FY2026. He is also a member of the IEICE International Committee.
Internationally, he has served as an AdCom member and Vice President of Membership for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society. He is a recipient of the Electronics Society Award and the IEICE Achievement Award, and is a Fellow of IEICE.
