2020年代も後半に差しかかりました。この5年間は、コロナ禍の影響によりリモートコミュニケーションが急速に普及しました。足元ではAIの驚異的な進化もあり、技術とビジネスの近接化がますます加速しています。100年以上の歴史をもつ当会の諸先輩方が築いてくださった価値を大切にしつつ、学会自身も時代に合わせて変革していくことが重要です。私は2024年度に企画戦略室長を拝命し、国や省庁との関係強化を目指し、植松会長声明「第7期科学技術・イノベーション基本計画に向けての提言」に向けたワーキンググループの活動や、大会企画セッションでの府省庁の方々とのディスカッションを通じた相互理解などを進めてきました。当会が社会から強く求められる存在であるために、どのような価値を拡大すべきか、今後もステークホルダーのみなさまと議論を重ね、着実に推進してまいります。
1998年東大工・電気工卒、2000年同大修士了、2003年同大博士（工学）。2003年KDDI入社、同社研究所にて、モバイルネットワークやホームネットワークに関する研究開発や国際標準化に従事。2020年よりKDDI(株)技術企画部長、2022年(株)KDDI総合研究所副所長およびKDDI research atelierセンター長、2024年よりKDDI(株) 先端技術企画本部副本部長に就任。
2006年ネットワークシステム研究会研究賞、2011年情報ネットワーク研究会研究賞、2011年通信ソサイエティ活動功労賞。本会、情報ネットワーク研究専門委員会幹事を歴任。
As we enter the latter half of the 2020s, the past five years have seen the rapid spread of remote communication driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. More recently, the astonishing advancement of AI has further accelerated the proximity of technology and business. While honoring the value built by our predecessors over more than one-hundred-year history of our Institute, it is essential that the Institute itself continue to evolve in step with the times. Since being appointed Director of the Planning and Strategy Office in FY2024, I have worked to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen relationships with the government and relevant ministries. These efforts have included leading the working group for President Uematsu’s statement, “Recommendations for the 7th Science, Technology, and Innovation Basic Plan,” as well as facilitating discussions with ministry representatives in our Society Conference. To ensure that our Institute remains an organization strongly needed by society, I will continue to engage in dialogue with our stakeholders and steadily advance the expansion of the value we provide.
Naoki IMAI received the B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Tokyo in 1998, 2000, 2003, respectively. He entered KDDI Corporation in 2003, and researched on mobile network and home network in KDDI R&D Laboratories (now KDDI research Inc.). He also worked as Executive Vice President of KDDI Research Inc. Since 2024, he has been Deputy General Manager of Advancing Business Tech-Strategy Division. He served as a secretary of Information Networks Technical Committee. He received IEICE Communications Society: Distinguished Contributions Award, etc.
