このたびは、情報通信エンジニアリング部門の部門長候補にご推薦いただき、大変光栄に存じます。
情報通信エンジニアリングは、現代社会の基盤として不可欠な情報通信インフラを総合的に運営するための中核を担う分野です。光ファイバや基地局等の設備の構築、災害時の迅速な復旧、通信品質や安全性の向上、通信設備の効率的な維持管理、技術継承など、多岐にわたる課題に日々取り組んでいます。これらの活動は、私たちの生活を支えるだけでなく、将来世代にも恩恵をもたらす社会基盤の発展に直結しています。
近年は、気候変動や災害リスク、通信トラヒックの増加やエンジニアの高齢化・減少など、現場で直面する課題も多岐にわたります。こうした課題に対し、現場力の強化やデジタル技術・AIの活用等、個社毎の取り組みだけでは不十分であり、業界全体で連携して推進していくことが不可欠です。
情報通信エンジニアリング部門は、森川教授を中心としたご尽力により、2025年6月に発足したばかりの新しい部門です。企業と学会が一体となり、現場の知見と最先端技術を融合させることで、この部門の更なる発展に貢献したいと考えています。

［Statement］

I am truly honored to be nominated as a candidate for the next Director of the Information and Communication Engineering Division.
Information and Communication Engineering is a core field which is responsible for the comprehensive management of essential infrastructure in modern society. This includes the construction of facilities such as optical fiber and base stations, rapid restoration in times of disaster, improvement of communication quality and safety, efficient maintenance of equipment, and the succession of technical expertise. These activities not only support our daily lives but also directly contribute to the development of a social foundation that will benefit future generations.
In recent years, there are a wide variety of challenges faced on the ground, including climate change, disaster risks, increase in communication traffic, and the aging and decline of engineers. To address these challenges, individual company efforts, such as strengthening on-site capabilities and utilizing digital technology and AI, are insufficient; it is essential that the entire industry work together to promote these efforts.
The Information and Communication Engineering Division is a new division, established in June 2025 through the dedicated efforts of Professor Morikawa and others. I would like to contribute to the further development of the division by bringing together companies and academic societies to combine on-site knowledge with advanced technology.

［Biography］

Takashi Ebihara joined NTT in 1990. He served as Director of Operations of Next-Generation Network at NTT EAST from 2013 to 2014, and as Head of Medium-Term Strategy Office at NTT EAST in 2014. From 2016, he was Vice President of Technology Planning Department at NTT Holdings, and in 2017, he served as Vice President of Human Resource Management at NTT Holdings. In 2020, he became Head of Digital Transformation Headquarters at NTT EAST, and Board of Director of NTT e-Asia. In 2022, he was appointed Head of Digital Transformation Headquarters at NTT EAST, and President & CEO of NTT e-Asia. Since 2025, he has served as Head of Technology Planning at NTT Holdings, Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Co-Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (Co-CAIO).
