Akira TAGUCHI

[Statement]

The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) has long supported the advancement of academic research and technological innovation, making significant contributions to the development of social infrastructure with information and communications at its core. At the same time, against the backdrop of rapid technological progress, changes in social structures, and the diversification of member needs, the Institute is required to continuously reexamine its roles and modes of activity and to strengthen its function as an open platform that connects academia, industry, and society. For this purpose, I believe that IEICE should be an academic society in which even non-members working in companies or organizations outside the field of electronics, information, and communications can participate with ease, motivated by their interest in research and technology.
By fully leveraging the strengths of technical committees, conferences, and publications, I aim to promote interdisciplinary research exchange, foster the development of young researchers and engineers, advance international academic collaboration, and facilitate the societal dissemination of research outcomes in an integrated manner, thereby ensuring that the value of the Institute is firmly passed on to the next generation. For example, the General Conference could be further enhanced as a forum where not only members but also junior participants, students, and researchers with some connection to the field of electronics, information, and communications can gather and mutually inspire one another. Through these efforts, I seek to contribute to the operation of an academic society that enables participation by both members and non-members alike and continues to earn the trust of society.
