情報・システムソサイエティは，人工知能，デジタルトランスフォーメーション，データサイエンスなど，国策レベルで重要視されている様々な技術を育むという，非常に重要な使命を有しています．我が国のこれら技術に関する研究力向上のために，本ソサイエティとして「オープン」と「支援」の二方策を中心に実施したいと考えます．前者に関しては，世界のオープン化の潮流の源泉とも言える情報系に相応しくあるべく，「ソサイエティ内の分野の壁」および「産学の壁」を越えた交流を促進したいと思います．またその潮流に則したソサイエティ制度のありかた（謝金の扱いや出版物へのアクセスなど）についても，議論を進めたく考えています．後者に関しては，各研究者が抱える様々な制約条件（ワークライフバランスや研究時間の減少など）下において，ソサイエティ全体の生産性を最大限向上できるような方策を考えたいと思います．具体的には，費用対効果を意識しつつ，研究会等の運営の効率化や，若手およびシニア研究者支援事業の導入を計画したいと考えています．
1990年九大・工・電子工学卒．1992年九大・工学研究院情報工学専攻修士課程修了．1992-1996年セコム株式会社IS研究所研究員．1999年九大・システム情報科学研究科博士課程修了，博士（工学）取得．その後九大において，1999年助手，2002年助教授，2007年教授，2017年主幹教授，2022年副学長，2024年理事・副学長，現在に至る．画像情報学・実データ解析に関する研究に従事．2006年 MIRU長尾賞，2007年 ICDAR Best Paper Award，2009年本会論文賞，2014年ISS活動功労賞，2016年データサイエンスアワード，2019年文部科学大臣表彰「科学技術賞」(研究部門）等受賞．JSTさきがけ「フィールド植物」，CREST「人工知能」，ACT-I「情報と未来」，ACT-X「数理・情報のフロンティア」「次世代AI・数理情報」，創発「後藤パネル」のアドバイザを務める．2023年より日本学術会議会員および九州・沖縄地区会議代表幹事．本会では，2021-2022年 パターン認識・メディア理解研究会委員長および画像の認識・理解シンポジウム実行委員長，2022年 九州支部長，などを歴任．2019年フェロー．国際活動では，IAPR ICDAR2021 Program Co-Chair．Pattern Recognition Associate Editorなどを歴任．
The Information and Systems Society (ISS) has a crucial mission of fostering various technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and Data Science, prioritized at the national strategy level. For enhancing Japanese research capabilities in these technologies, our society can focus on two key strategies: "Openness" and "Support." Regarding the former, information technologies are a driving force of the global trend of openness (such as open data, open science, and open source). I, therefore, plan to introduce more openness into ISS by promoting interdisciplinary collaborations within ISS and between industry and academia. Additionally, I plan to discuss how the management systems of ISS can adapt to this trend. Regarding the latter, I want to maximize the productivity of researchers in ISS while considering various private and public conditions (such as work-life balance and reduced research time). Specifically, I want to improve the efficiency of organizing study groups and other activities while introducing programs that support young and senior researchers.
Seiichi Uchida received his B.E. and M.E. degrees from Kyushu University in 1990 and 1992, respectively. After working as a researcher at SECOM IS Laboratory from 1992 to 1996, he received Dr. Eng from Kyushu University in 1999. He held positions at Kyushu University as an assistant professor in 1999, an associate professor in 2002, a professor in 2007, a distinguished professor in 2017, and a vice president in 2022. Currently, he is an executive vice president. His research focuses on image informatics and practical data analysis. He has received domestic and international awards, including the MIRU Nagao Award in 2006, the ICDAR Best Paper Award in 2007, the IEICE Best Paper Award in 2009, the ISS Distinguished Service Award in 2014, the Data Science Award in 2016, and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Science and Technology (Research Category) in 2019. Within ISS, he served as Chair of the Technical Committee on Pattern Recognition and Media Understanding (PRMU), General Chair of the Symposium on Image Recognition and Understanding (MIRU) from 2021 to 2022, and Chair of the Kyushu Section in 2022. He was named a Fellow of the society in 2019. Internationally, he has served as Program Co-Chair for IAPR ICDAR2021 and Associate Editor for Pattern Recognition journal.
