[Statement]

The recent recognition of Nobel Prizes awarded to researchers in information science highlights the increasingly blurred boundaries between fundamental and applied science, as well as across different fields. Innovations often arise from these fundamental and intersections of research fields. This underscores the growing expectations placed on ESS. However, driving deep, fundamental research and initiating transformative changes in these boundary domains are challenging tasks that require sustained effort and time to deepen and integrate diverse research areas. To effectively support these efforts, ESS must foster stronger collaborations among research groups, provide opportunities for dynamic discussions, and actively disseminate research findings through technical meetings and publications. Personally, I have had the privilege of presenting my research at several technical meetings, where engaging in discussions with researchers from related fields helped me better understand both the depth and potential of domain. Additionally, through my experiences as an editor, director, and editor-in-chief of IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals, I have come to strongly feel the difficulty and importance of disseminating research results, and I am convinced of the potential of our society. With the collective wisdom of our society’s members, I aim to cultivate an environment that inspires more vigorous discussions and drives impactful research outcomes.
