この度、光栄にも企画理事候補に推薦いただきました。長らく電子情報通信学会に在籍し、ICT分野の劇的な発展と変革を見つつ、学会活動を通じ自分自身を成長させていただけたことに感謝しております。ただ昨今は会員数、特に企業会員の減少、論文IFの問題、海外投稿数の減少などさまざまな課題が顕在化しています。一方ではコロナ禍を経験した中で、活性化維持のための数多くのWebinarの開催や会合のオンライン化などの施策も積極的に行われてきました。その中で私は会員の皆様のご意見に真摯に耳を傾け、現在に即した学会のあり方を考え、将来に向け特に若手の技術者・研究者の育成を主眼とした魅力ある学会づくりに貢献したいと考えています。
1983年京都大学修士了。KDDI研究所にて、移動体衛星通信、符号理論、3G携帯、センサネットワークの研究開発に従事。ATRメディア情報科学研究所/適応コミュニケーション研究所所長を経て2013年福岡大学工学部電子情報工学科教授。2024年同学名誉教授、現在株式会社オプテージ非常勤監査役、ATR適応コミュニケーション研究所連携研究員。
＜本会での主な活動＞
USN研究専門委員会委員長、和文マガジンB-Plus編集長、和文A論文誌編集長、IT研究専門委員会委員長、ESSソサイエティ会長/副会長等を歴任。現在ESS編集長。2018年ISITA2018実行委員長。1990年学術奨励賞受賞。本会フェロー。工学博士。
I am honored to have been nominated as a candidate for the position of Planning Director. Having been a member of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) for many years, I have witnessed the dramatic development and transformation of the ICT field. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities to grow both personally and professionally through my involvement in the society's activities.
In recent years, however, several challenges have become evident, including a decline in membership (particularly among corporate members), issues with the journal impact factor, and a decrease in international submissions. On the other hand, the society has taken proactive measures to maintain vitality, such as hosting numerous webinars and transitioning meetings to online formats during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this context, I am committed to listening sincerely to the voices of our members, reflecting on the current and future role of the society, and contributing to its evolution. My primary focus will be on creating an appealing society that prioritizes nurturing young engineers and researchers as we look toward the future.
He received M.S. degree from Kyoto University and joined KDDI in 1983. Since then, he was engaged in mobile satellite communication, channel coding, IMT-2000 and ubiquitous networking R&D. After serving to ATR as a director of Media Information Science Labs. and Adaptive Communication Labs. From 2013, he is a professor, Fukuoka University. In IEICE, the title of Professor Emeritus at Fukuoka University in 2024. Currently serving as a Part-time Auditor at OPTAGE Inc. and a Collaborative Researcher at ATR Adaptive Communications Research Laboratories. he was a chair of Technical Committee on Ubiquitous Sensor Network, president and vice president of ESS (Engineering Sciences Society), a chair of Technical Committee on Information Theory, Editor-in-Chief of IEICE Communications Society Magazine and Editor-in-Chief of IEICE Trans. Fundamentals (Japanese Edition), general chair of ISITA2018. Currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of the ESS Society. He is IEICE fellow.
