少子化による人口の減少が進む中、理系人材の不足が社会問題となっています。特に、近年の生成AIの隆盛に伴う情報・システム分野の専門人材の不足が深刻な問題です。この状況下で、我々情報・システムソサイエティの果たすべき役割は何かを改めて問い直す時期に来ています。特に、ジュニア世代への啓発活動、学生・若手研究者へのメンターシップ、研究人材の国際的な交流促進、異分野間共同研究のインキュベーション、シニア世代の学び直しの機会の提供など、世代や分野の垣根を超えた「交流の場」としての機能が強く期待されていると感じています。我々は新型コロナ禍を経験し、リモート形式・ハイブリッド形式などより多様な学会・研究会の開催形式を実現しました。そして、改めて対面での議論に高い価値があることを認識しました。これらの経験を活かし、私は、会員の皆さんと、自由な発想のもとで、従来の枠組みに捉われない、より魅力ある「交流の場」を実現していきたいと思います。一方で運営に携わる皆さんの負荷が大きくなっており、その効率化も課題です。会員の皆さん全員が幸福になるような学会運営のあり方を、皆さんとともに考えていきたいと思います。
1987年東大・理・物理卒。1989年東大院・理学系研究科物理学専攻修士課程修了。2001年博士(工学)取得。1989年日本電気入社。1997-1998年ルーセントテクノロジー・ベル研究所客員研究員。2001年東大・情報理工学系研究科助教授。2003年東工大・情報理工学研究科助教授。2013年同大・同研究科教授。2016年同大・情報理工学院教授、現在に至る。音声・画像・映像などマルチメディアのパターン認識・機械学習に従事。1995年日本音響学会技術開発賞、1997年同会粟谷学術奨励賞、1998年本会論文賞、2011年本会情報・システムソサイエティ活動功労賞。音声(SP)専門委員会幹事、Elsevier Computer Speech and Language誌編集委員、情報処理学会音声言語処理(SLP)研究会主査、IEEE ASRU Technical Chair, 映像情報メディア学会論文編集委員長、IEEE SPS Tokyo Joint Chapter Chair, IEEE APSIPA ASC General Co-Chairなどを務めた。 本会フェロー、情報・システムソサイエティ副会長（技術会議担当）。
As the population continues to decline due to the falling birthrate, the shortage of human resources in the sciences has become a social issue. In particular, the shortage of professional human resources in the information and systems fields is a serious problem due to the recent prosperity of generated AI. Under these circumstances, it is time to reexamine what role we, the Information Systems Society, should play. In particular, I feel that we are strongly expected to function as a "place for exchange" that transcends generational and disciplinary boundaries, such as educational activities for the junior generation, mentorship for students and young researchers, promotion of international exchange of research personnel, incubation of interdisciplinary joint research, and providing opportunities for the senior generation to relearn. We have experienced the new Corona Disaster and realized more diverse formats for holding conferences and workshops, including remote and hybrid formats. And once again, we recognized the high value of face-to-face discussions. With these experiences, I would like to work with our members to realize a more attractive "place for exchange" that is not bound by conventional frameworks, based on a free conception of what is possible. On the other hand, the burden on everyone involved in the management of the association has been increasing, and improving its efficiency is also an issue. Together with you, I would like to think about how to manage our society so that all members can be happy.
