Although the dramatic development of ICT has promoted globalization, it is actually weakening Japan's presence in the world. Issues related to the survival of humanity, such as global warming and a declining birthrate remain unresolved and forced us to change our conventional values. IEICE, which is one of the largest societies in Japan, lasting for more than 100 years, is also influenced by such social movements in a visible way such as a decrease in the number of members. In these circumstances, in order to show our significant presence, I believe it is important to emphasize diversity and actively incorporate fields that were previously thought to be outside our field. I have been an active member of this society for over 40 years and have served in many positions. I will do my best as an auditor to make use of my experience and to ensure that IEICE continues to grow sustainably in the future.
I received the B.E., M.E. and PhD degrees in Electronic and Electric Engineering from the Univ. of Tokyo in 1980, 1982, and 1986 respectively. After a research associate at the Univ. of Tokyo, I joined School of Science and Technology, Meiji University, where I was a full-time lecturer, an associate professor and a professor. I am now the dean and a professor at School of Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, Meiji University. In 1998 I was a councilor, in 2006 the chair of Technical Committee on Smart Info-media System, in 2010 the director of investigation, etc. in IEICE. I was also a member of Information and Communications Council, a director of JFES, a member and acting chairperson of Telecommunications Dispute Settlement Commission, a council member of SCJ, and fellows of IEICE and JFES. I won 2004 IEICE best paper award, 2021 SCAT Award Chairman’s Grand Prize, and 2023 Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award of the Council for Info-Communications Promotion Month.
