[Statement]

The global pandemic of COVID-19 has resulted in various geopolitical conflicts, making it even more difficult to globally achieve Sustainable Development Goals. Even under such circumstances, electronics and information and communication technologies are expected to play an important role in supporting society and revolutionizing the world.
On the other hand, there are many other competing or mutually complementary activities in these technical fields, such as consortia, standardization organizations, other related academic societies, and business sectors including academic publishing.
In such an environment, I would like to think together with you about many challenges such as how to cooperate with engineers and researchers around the world, how to promote cooperation and co-creation for various social issues, and what kind of activities IEICE should conduct in the presence of various activities in the same area of expertise.
