情報通信技術の発展は革命的であり、IoTによる物質資産のディジタル化のみならず、DXの発展によって社会システムまでもがディジタル化されつつあります。その一方で、我が国の少子高齢化には歯止めがかかっておらず、本学会の若手会員比率も年々低下し、会員の高齢化も進んでいます。この状態が進めば、社会基盤として最も重要なICT関連の研究者や技術者の人材不足や高齢化、それに伴う学会活動の低迷も予期され、科学技術の発展によって国を繁栄させることも、本学会を永続していくことも困難になります。
この厳しい現状に対して、副会長（学術担当）として行ってきた活動と知見を活用し、中高生やジュニア会員に対する啓発活動による若手会員の増強、国際化の推進、ICTに対する正しい見識を持った新たな価値観を創造する人材の育成、出版事業、集会事業に加え、新たな収益事業となり得るリスキリングなどの教育事業の更なる推進、研究会や大会等の学会活動の運営効率化、世代間の融合を進めることによる会員の活躍の場の醸成などによって、今後10年さらには50年にわたり持続可能な活気ある電子情報通信学会の基盤を作ることを目指して、皆さんと一緒に邁進していく所存です。
1982年東工大・工・電気電子卒、1984年東工大・修士課程了。工学博士（東工大）。1984年東工大助手、2003年から東工大教授、2012年から2018年まで東工大副学長（情報基盤担当）、2020年から2021年まで東工大工学院長。本会では、副会長、基礎・境界ソサイエティ会長、和文論文誌(B)編集副委員長、基礎・境界ソサイエティ大会担当幹事、通信ソサイエティ庶務幹事、情報理論研究専門委員会委員長、情報理論とその応用サブソサイエティ副委員長などを務めた。IEEEではTrans. IT Associate Editorを務めた。本会論文賞7回、喜安善市賞、業績賞等受賞。
The development of information and communication technology is revolutionary, and not only physical assets are being digitized by IoT, but also social systems are being digitized by the development of DX. On the other hand, Japan's declining birthrate and aging population are still unstoppable. If this situation continues, it is expected that ICT-related researchers and engineers will age and there will be a shortage of human resources, which will weaken the nation. It will also become difficult to continue IEICE forever.
In response to this difficult situation, I will make the use of the activities and knowledge experienced as the former vice president (in charge of academics). I will increase the number of young members through enlightenment activities for junior high and high school students as well as junior members, foster young researchers and engineers who create new values with correct knowledge of ICT, promote educational projects such as re-skilling as a new profit-making business in IEICE, improve the efficiency of the academic society management and organization, and foster fusion between generations in order to enhance activities of IEICE. I would like to work hard together with all of you to create a foundation for an active and vibrant IEICE that will be sustainable over the next 50 years.
Tomohiko Uyematsu received the B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He is currently professor of the School of Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 2012 and 2020, He was appointed to Vice President and Dean, respectively in Tokyo Institute of Technology. In IEICE, He served as Vice President, President of the Engineering Science Society, Vice Editor of IEICE Trans. Communications (Japanese Edition), Director Conference of ESS, Director General Affairs of CS, Chair of IEICE Information Theory Technical Committee, Vice Chair of Information Theory and its Applications Subsociety, and so on. He was Associate Editor of IEEE Trans. IT. He has awarded 7 times the Best Paper Awards, the KIYASU-Zen'iti Award, and Achievement Award from IEICE.
