[Statement]

The IEICE Communications Society has contributed to the development of the information and communication technologies by actively conducting research activities through technical and editorial committees. The recent emergence of new technologies and services, such as AI-based automatic recognition and automatic car driving technologies, has been accelerating even faster than before, and it is necessary to promote the development of cross-disciplinary technologies, including new applications and information services, as well as the improvement of high-speed and high-capacity communication technologies. It is also necessary to promote the development of cross-disciplinary technologies by exchanging diverse ideas among researchers and developers in Japan and overseas. The Communications Society has conducted pioneering research activities of cross-field research associations and a flagship international conference. In order to further accelerate these activities, it is essential that technical committees, editorial committees, and the planning and members activities committee work more closely together than ever before to develop attractive services for both members and non-members. I would like to do my best to develop the Communications Society, respecting the tradition of communications research and exchanging with all the society members the ideas for what the Communications Society should be such that the society can flexibly adapt to the movements of the times and even create the times.
