[Statement]

Now that I have made this statement, I am at the IEEE-sponsored international conference in the United States where COVID-19 has begun to re-emerge. Both Virtual (remote) and In-person are possible, but I do not get excited with the conference, which has decades of history, and I feel a great sense of loss for the future of humankind. The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), which represents Japan in the ICT field, has had the same problems for about two years. I was appointed as the Vice President in charge of academic strengthening for two years from 2019, and in the midst of COVID-19, I reconsidered the value of the IEICE with the members to find the future direction of the IEICE. We have discussed and made some trial efforts. Webinar, represented by the ICT Pioneer series, is one of them, and we once again recognized the highest potential of our association, the IEICE, which has a history of more than 100 years. Taking the crisis as an opportunity, I would like to actively promote the academic society DX and enhance the presence of the IEICE as a hub for academic promotion, industry-academia-government collaboration, academic society collaboration, young human resources development, and lifelong education support.
