This paper proposes a new type of single-user receiver, the simple adaptive interference canceller, for asynchronous DS-CDMA systems. Cancellation of multi-access interference (MAI) is carried out based on regeneration and cancellation of the cross-correlations between the desired user's spreading sequence and the other user's spreading sequences, by using an adaptive filter. Based on the MMSE criterion, the adaptive filter determines the optimum tap coefficient vector which is orthogonal to the desired user's spreading sequence, as well as generates the cross-correlations when multiplied to the received signal. Evaluation under an AWGN environment demonstrates that the proposed receiver is quite effective for cancellation of MAI. |
