Application Procedure (Individual Member)

Thank you very much for your consideration of joining The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE).
We publish The Journal of IEICE, 4 Japanese and English Transactions, and online English journals; ComeX, ELEX, and NOLTA, and so on.
We also hold two annual conferences, numerous research societies, and lecture meetings. We welcome you to join The IEICE.

Member type: (extracted from The Regulations)

Overseas Membership applies only to candidates who reside outside of Japan and who have non-Japanese citizenship. If you have a non-Japanese citizenship and residence in Japan, Please apply from here.

Members
Section 2: Members with specialized knowledge or expertise in electronic engineering, information, or communication, or comparable experience who support the objectives of the Institute.
Student members
Section 3: Members pursuing courses in electronic engineering, information or communication at schools offering such courses, and who support the objectives of the Institute.

※ Working adult students are not eligible for Student membership. Please apply for your membership as “Member”

※ Applicable "schools" are mainly universities, colleges, and technical colleges. Please note that people enrolled in the laboratory are not eligible for Student members, and apply for membership as “Member”

Membership Dues

Our fiscal year is based on the Japanese calendar (April-March of the next year). ※January is the 10th month of every fiscal year.

Even in the case of admission from the middle of the fiscal year, there is no reduction of annual membership dues.

Sister Society Discount (Individual Members Only)

If you are a member of one of the following institutions, a Sister Society Discount will be applied by submitting a certificate of registration (PDF) before paying your dues for the fiscal year.

Affiliated Institutions

The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers(IEIE):Admission fees will be exempted for IEIE members.
The Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences(KICS):Membership dues will be discounted for KICS members.

※Institutions will change whenever the occasion arises.

※ IEICE Membership renews automatically every fiscal year.

Process of joining

Application for membership is only accepted online.For the application, please register your e-mail address first.
An URL for the application will be sent to your registered e-mail address.

STEP1

Please click "E-mail address registration" and register your e-mail address. After registration, we will send you an e-mail with an URL of online application form.
Recommendation from one endorser is required. The endorser should be an IEICE Member.
※Please make sure not to enter your name in the endorser box.
Exceptionally, student members can ask for recommendation to their professor as an endorser.

※In case of applying for student membership, please prepare a PDF copy of one of the followings before entering the form.
・Student ID with expiration date
・Certificate of enrollment which we can confirm the issuing date, graduation date, or term of the course
・Receipt or screen captured payment page of tuition fees for the semester including your enrollment month
・Any other document which prooves that you are a student after joining IEICE
※For applicants who are currently residing to related academic institutes, please prepare your certificate of residence.

STEP2

Please submit your application form and complete your payment of admission fee and annual membership dues. STEP1 and 2 should be completed until the 15th of every month.

STEP3

The IEICE Board of Directors approves your joining IEICE.

STEP4

The Membership will start at the beginning of the next month.

※ The personal information we collect will not be used for the purposes other than IEICE activities.

Invoice and receipt upon application for membership

Please access and obtain the invoice and the receipt from Temporary Members' Member Page which becomes available after applying for membership and completing the payment.
