Information security is the fundamental technology of economic and social activities, such as DX (Digital Transformation) and privacy protection based on GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Thus, the development of persons with security knowledge is necessary. With the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the "Practical Information Education Collaborative NW across Disciplines and Regions - Security Field, SecCap" educational programs have been conducted for graduate students since 2012, and the "Education Network for Practical Information Technologies, Basic SecCap and ProSec" for undergraduate students and working adults since 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Prof. Miyaji has conducted SecCap at JAIST since 2012 and continues to provide information security education for graduate students across Japan. She has certified more than 50 SecCap students. The total number of students taking lectures and PBL exercises offered by her exceeds 200. At Osaka University since 2016, she has been conducting Basic SecCap, and has certified more than 50 Basic SecCap students. The total number of students taking lectures and PBL exercises offered by her exceeds 684.

Based on the experience of the practical information security course for undergraduate and graduate students, she has implemented ProSec since 2017 and systematically designed a collaborative and practical information security course that connects undergraduate and graduate students with working adults. In this practical information security course, she also designed systematic PBL exercises to solve various problems in the information society in a collaborative manner across generations and organizations. The total number of adult participants in courses that she designed amounts to 26.

She has trained a large number of security professionals, and many of her trained students are now active as core personnel in the industry and universities. Furthermore, her contribution is not only in training information security personnel but also in building a collaborative network among the students she has trained. The practical information security course designed that she designed has fostered practical information security human resources to realize an information society that leads us to collaboration, and a human network built beyond generations and organizations and has made a remarkable contribution to Japanese society as a whole. Prof. Miyaji deserves the highest recommendation for the IEICE Distinguished Educational Practitioners Award.
