The IEICE has already had nearly 100 years of history, but it must continue the always changes on needs of the times. Especially now, social problems that we are facing becomes complex and complicated, and no other places except the Society, where researchers from industry, academia and government are conjugated, have the potential to be able to effectively resolve those problems.
@However, my feeling as a one researcher is that estrangement is occurring in the activities of Society headquarters and technical committees. That is, the meaningful efforts in headquarters have not been fully shared by the society members, including me. For seeking new research ideas/topics and for forming the new research community, each technical committee needs to have interdisciplinary activities with other technical committees and other societies without closing the individual technical committee activities. Of course, there are many enthusiastic efforts in an individual technical committee. The problem is those are not effectively shared with other committees well. I would like to contribute to the Society especially from the perspective of development of young researchers and engineers.
Selected activities: A member of Board of Directors in charge of General Affairs (FY2008-2009), Chair of Technical Committee on Information Network (FY2004-2005), The First Chairs of Ad Hoc Technical Committees on New-Generation Network, Information Network Science, and Information-Centric Network.
