@In Japan, mobile infrastructure has rapidly changed from 3G to 4G and most terminals are replaced by smart phones. Major mobile services have been provided by OTT, though originally provided in vertically integrated way. Such that, ICT is evolving very fast while increasing its role as a fundamental social infrastructure.
@I think the role of IEICE is becoming more and more important through continuous review and change of its role in a similar way, as a basic source of technical evolutions. This time, having been nominated as a candidate of Director in Conferences, Student Activities and Education, I wish to contribute to IEICE activities.

@He received M.S. degree from Kyoto University and joined KDDI in 1983. Since then, he was engaged in mobile satellite communication, channel coding, IMT-2000 and ubiquitous networking R&D. After serving to ATR as a director of Media Information Science Labs. and Adaptive Communication Labs., he is now a professor, Fukuoka University. In IEICE, he was a chair of Technical Committee on Ubiquitous Sensor Network, vice president of ESS (Engineering Sciences Society), vice chair of Technical Committee on Information Theory, Editor-in-Chief of IEICE Communications Society Magazine and Editor-in-Chief of IEICE Trans. Fundamentals (Japanese Edition).
