Transactions Online Terms of Use

"IEICE Transactions Online" an electronic journal site operated by the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (hereinafter referred to as the "IEICE"), is a service (hereinafter referred to as "this Service") for publishing on the Internet papers that have been published in the IEICE Transactions, which are issued regularly by the IEICE. User Registration is required for use of the IEICE Transactions Online. Persons who have completed the User Registration are assumed to have consented to the contents of the "Usage Regulations related to Personal Use" (hereinafter referred to as "these Regulations"). We respectfully request your understanding in this regard, and look forward to receiving your registration.

1 Provision of this Service

The IEICE shall provide services to persons who have completed the User Registration (hereinafter referred to as "the User") after consent to these Regulations and completion of the specified procedures. The User may access these Services by using a User ID and Password, which will be sent on completion of the User Registration.

2 Copyrights, etc.

(a) Copyrights related to text, graphics, and other information provided through the IEICE Transactions Online shall be attributed to the IEICE.
(b) The User may download, display, view, or print out (one copy only) electronic files containing abstracts or full texts of papers published in the IEICE Transactions Online, with applications limited to the User's own research, or for personal academic purposes.

3 Exemptions from Liability

(a) The IEICE shall bear no liability whatsoever for any damages or losses suffered by the user resulting from viewing or other use of the IEICE Transactions Online; for the correctness, completeness, or usefulness of any information provided through the IEICE Transactions Online; or for any damages or losses resulting from the use of such information.
(b) The User may not establish any links from the IEICE Transactions Online Site to any other Website or resource. Furthermore, in the event that a Third Party provides a link from the IEICE Transactions Online Site to another Website or resource, the IEICE claims no involvement whatsoever with the manager of the site or resource related to such a link. The IEICE makes no guarantees, and shall bear no responsibility whatsoever, regarding such Websites.

4 Prohibitions

(a) In the event that the IEICE comes to the judgment that a User has acted in violation of these Regulations or has violated copyrights or other rights, or that there is a risk that such behavior may occur, the IEICE may take any appropriate measures, including termination of the use of the IEICE Transactions Online.
(b) The downloading of electronic files containing abstracts or full texts of papers through the use of the IEICE Transactions Online shall be within the scope required for viewing, and shall be limited to use for personal or non-profit purposes. The IEICE strictly prohibits any downloading exceeding the necessary boundaries, for whatever reason, as well as alteration, assignment, copying, or distribution of downloaded electronic files containing abstracts or full texts of papers.

5 Software

The User is required to bear all communication costs resulting from accessing or viewing the IEICE Transactions Online, as well as the cost of facilities, devices, and all related software (including Internet Browsers and Portable Document File (PDF) Readers) required to view the information provided, and any relevant usage licenses.

6 Changes to these Regulations

The IEICE may change articles in these Regulations at any time as required, without prior notification to Users. The IEICE shall bear no liability whatsoever for any damage or losses suffered by users based on such changes, or resulting from suspension or termination of these Regulations.

7 Management of Personal Information

The IEICE may use personal information gathered during User Registration within a scope required by the IEICE. However, such personal information shall not be disclosed or provided to any Third Party, with the exception of the following cases:

1. When such disclosure is based on the stipulations of a legal ordinance

2. When the User's consent has been obtained

8 Applicable Laws and Courts of Jurisdiction

Use of the IEICE Transactions Online and interpretation of these Regulations shall be subject to application of Japanese Laws. Any and all conflicts related to the use of the IEICE Transactions Online shall be under the exclusive jurisdiction by agreement of the Tokyo District Court.

Supplementary Provision

These Regulations shall be executed on April 1st 2004.
