■ Shigeki Iwata

Information and System Society (ISS) of IEICE is one of the largest and most important academic society of information technology and computer science in Japan. The society is responsible to both academic and technical contribution in the field. It is necessary to make it easier for the members to participate in meetings hosted by Technical Committees of ISS, Conferences, or to submit an article to Japanese or English Editions on Transactions of Information and Systems, IEICE. At the same time, it is important for ISS to keep publishing papers with high quality in the Transactions.

I will retire from my position at the University as of the end of March, 2014. The professors of universities are very busy. Being a professor and serving as the president of ISS at the same time is a tough job. Compared with professors, I will have more free time after my retirement. Keeping spirits of researchers in mind, I will try my best to serve as a president of ISS.
