He received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees in information science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1983, 1985 and 2010, respectively. He joined NTT Laboratories in 1985 and has been engaged in communication traffic and service quality research. As a visiting scholar, he stayed at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, during 1990 - 1991. He is currently conducting research and management on traffic and quality for future communications networks and services.
He is currently a vice-chair of Technical Committee on Communications Quality and Reliability (CQR) of the IEEE Communications Society. He also served as a chair of Technical Committee on Communication Quality (CQ) and as a director, technical activities of Council of Technical
Committee Representatives of the IEICE Communications Society. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Operations Research Society of Japan.
Some of his recent recognitions include IEEE GLOBECOM Outstanding Leadership Award, IEICE Communication Quality Technical Committee Research Award, The Telecommunications Advancement Foundation TELECOM System Technology Award, IEICE Communications Society Excellent Paper Award, and Telecommunication Technology Committee Award. |
