In the 5G standardization, key enabling technologies such as massive MIMO, beamforming, access technology, and frame designs are specified and related advanced technologies are still being developed. Meanwhile, new technology concepts for the next generation mobile communications including 5G evolution and beyond 5G (B5G) are about to be investigated in many research entities. On top of that, research and development activities of key technologies for next generation mobile communications are about to be initiated. In these regards, this special section is aiming to provide opportunities to present the latest trials and the proof-of-concept activities for next generation mobile communications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px; text-align: justify;\">This special section aims at timely dissemination of research in the following areas.
