July 21 2006 Subject: [IEICE-CS Information<2006-10>Call for Paper:2006 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2006 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband (http://www.icuwb2006.org) ====================================================================== The 2006 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband will be held at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA, from 24 - 27 September 2006. This conference provides a forum for the latest UWB systems, technologies, and applications in both microwave and millimeter-wave bands. This conference is a continuation of a series of international UWB conferences held in Baltimore (2002), Reston-VA (2003), Oulu (2004), Kyoto (2004), and Zurich (2005). TECHNICAL PROGRAM The Technical Program will consist of presentations in the following disciplines: Antennas and Propagation: - UWB antennas - Channel measurements & modeling - Field trials and measurements Systems and Signal Processing: - Modulation & detection - System architectures - Synchronization - Ranging & localization - Interference & capacity - Coding & decoding - Multiple access schemes Hardware Architecture and Implementation: - RF modules - Pulse generation & detection - Integrated circuit design - Low power consumption techniques - OFDM implementations - Circuits & systems Regulatory Issues: - Spectral management - Measurement for type approval - Signal modeling - Co-existence UWB Applications: - Wireless PAN - Positioning - Tools for system analysis - Home networking - Sensing - Radar - Consumer electronics - Wireless USB, Wireless Firewire ABOUT ICUWB The first conference of this series was held in 2002 in Baltimore. At that time, UWB was a hot emerging topic that had just received a tremendous boost in the form of the FCC report and order, allowing unlicensed operation of UWB devices. Four years later, the field has made tremendous progress, both in the theory, and the practical applications. Hundreds of researchers all over the world have contributed insights into the behavior of UWB systems, investigating modulation, multiple access, synchronization, coding, geolocation, antennas, propagation, and many other aspects. The industry at the same time has moved to the point where mass-market consumer products will be released within this year. Given all these developments, it is vital for everybody to stay current with the most recent research results, and broaden their horizons by seeing all the different areas of UWB. The ICUWB 2006 offers a unique opportunity. Some 100 papers from all the different areas of UWB, having undergone a stringent peer review process, will be presented. Five workshops, given by leading experts in the field, will give in-depth information. And, of course, you will be able to talk face-to-face with all the researchers. And, to round things off, the conference will offer an extensive social program, including a dinner cruise featuring our gala dinner aboard the "Spirit of Boston". Don't forget that September is a great time to visit New England! Please go to our web site at http://www.ICUWB2006.org for updated information on the technical program, workshop schedule, registration information, social program and visitors information for the Boston area.
