Dear Colleague,<\/p>\n

This letter calls for nominations for each of the seven URSI awards to be
\npresented at the opening ceremony of the URSI General Assembly and
\nScientific Symposium to be held in Sapporo on 19 August 2023. A nomination
\nform is attached to this letter together with the list of former awardees.<\/p>\n

The “senior” awards are the van der Pol Gold Medal, the John Howard
\nDellinger Gold Medal, the Appleton Prize, the Booker Gold Medal and the
\nRawer Gold Medal. The “early career\u201d awards are the Issac Koga Gold Medal
\nand the Santimay Basu Prize. The rules governing these awards are attached
\nto help you assess potential candidates. The rules governing the President\u2019
\ns Award are included for information – only Board members can nominate
\ncandidates for this award.<\/p>\n

The following summarises the rules and the process for nomination.<\/p>\n

1. Only addressees of this letter may nominate candidates.
\n2. Each can nominate up to seven candidates, one for each award.
\n3. A senior award is for career achievements. Consistent with the
\nabove, we encourage you to consider candidates previously
\nunsuccessful.
\n4. Please note that we are asking for a nomination statement and
\nsupporter statements.
