情報通信技術の社会における重要性が今後さらに高まることが予想されるのに対して多くの国内研究者を取り巻く研究環境は、以前と比較して長期的視点に基づく研究が進めやすい環境とは必ずしも言えなくなってきているように思います。短期的研究成果を重視する傾向のなかにあって特に若手研究者が工学系の基礎研究をじっくり腰を据えて進めることは難しくなりつつあります。しかし、基礎研究の重要性は今も昔も変わりません。基礎研究を守り育む土壌としての学会の役割は、社会的機能としてその重要性を増してきていると考えることもできます。いまの時代に求められる学会の役割を考えつつ、基礎・境界ソサイエティの運営に貢献していきたいと考えています。
1991京都工芸繊維大学電子工学科卒業。1993京都工芸繊維大学大学院工学研究科博士前期課程修了。1997京都工芸繊維大学論文博士（工学）。1995岡山県立大学助手。1999-2000ドイツエッセン大学客員研究員。2004名古屋工業大学助教授。2010名古屋工業大学教授。現在に至る。
本会においては、基礎・境界ソサイエティ副会長（事業担当）、情報理論研究専門委員会委員長などを務めた。2006ソサイエティ論文賞（システムソサイエティ）。2020 FR誌ベストオーサー賞。
Importance of information and communication technology in our society is expected to further increase in the future. With the tendency to emphasize short-term research outcomes, it is becoming more difficult for young researchers, in particular, to concentrate on fundamental research. However, the importance of basic research has not changed. The role of academic societies as a soil to protect and foster fundamental research is becoming increasingly important as a social function. I would like to contribute to the management of ESS, while considering the role of the academic society required in this time.
Tadashi Wadayama received the B.E., the M.E., and the D.E. degrees from Kyoto Institute of Technology in 1991, 1993 and 1997, respectively. On 1995, he started to work with Faculty of Computer Science and System Engineering, Okayama Prefectural University as a research associate. From April 1999 to March 2000, he stayed in Institute of Experimental Mathematics, Essen University (Germany) as a visiting researcher. On 2004, he moved to Nagoya Institute of Technology as an associate professor. Since 2010, he has been a full professor of Nagoya Institute of Technology.
