世界が大きく変化し続ける中で、解決すべきさまざまな社会課題がうまれてきています。情報通信技術は、社会基盤のみならず、社会課題を解決し未来を切り開いていくために、その重要度が高まっています。電子情報通信学会は情報通信における研究開発や産業の発展、人材育成に貢献してきました。情報通信技術が、今後も未来に貢献し続けるために、本会が果たすべき役割もまた、その重要度がましてくるものと考えております。会員の英知を繋ぎ、さらには、その源流となる人を引き付け新たな英知を生み出していく場を提供する役割を担う編集・出版においても、日々あるべき姿を見つめてチャレンジしつづけることが重要だと考えております。本会の運営に編集理事として貢献できれば幸いです。
平成3年、北海道大学卒、平成5年、同大学院修士課程修了、令和4年、九州大学大学院博士課程修了、博士（工学）。平成5年日本電信電話株式会社に入社。通信および情報処理向けの光デバイスの研究開発に従事。現在、同社日本電信電話株式会社先端集積デバイス研究所上席特別研究員、グループリーダ。本会の光エレクトロニクス研究専門委員会委員長。
As the world changes drastically, there is a wide range of social issues to be resolved. Information and communications technology is becoming increasingly important not only for social infrastructure but also for solving social issues and creating the future. The IEICE has been contributing to research and development, industrial development, and human resource development in the field of information and communications. For ICT to continue to contribute to the future, the role of the IEICE will also become increasingly important. In the field of editing and publishing, which connects the wisdom of our members, attracts people, and provides a field for new wisdom to emerge, I believe it is important to continue to think about what needs to be done and keep trying. It would be my pleasure if I could contribute to the IEICE as a Director, Journal and Transactions.
Toshikazu Hashimoto received a B.S. and M.S. in physics from Hokkaido University in 1991 and 1993 and Ph.D. in engineering from Kyushu University in 2022. He joined NTT in 1993 and has been engaged in research and development of optical devices for communications and information processing. He is a Senior Distinguished Researcher, Group Leader of NTT Device Technology Laboratories. In IEICE, he serveｓ as the chair of technical committee on Optoelectronics.
