ŠT@—v The seminar will be devoted to such important problem as cancer diagnostics by means of image processing tools. Every year, the speaker has a number of projects in the area of medical informatics for raising effectiveness of diagnostic processes. Developed projects include all operational levels of medical institutions from workstations for doctors to a regional system with elements of telemedicine.

The presentation will show main projects and systems created by the speaker, discuss their results, and include main recommendations for developing e-health systems. Specifically, the following topics on the projects will be shown: (1) scientific results in the area of histology/ cytology image interpretation, (2) the developed image processing tools for medical image feature extraction,
(3) computer analysis of cytologic images for differential diagnosis of thyroid diseases, and
(4) examples of systems for making diagnosis of cancer from image analysis.

This presentation will also show automated information analysis systems, which have been developed for medical institution. The systems are based on electronic medical history and designed for controlling information streams of collecting, analyzing, and handling data from medical investigations. The automated radiological information systems based on telemedicine network which is created for collecting, storage, analyzing and transfer of medical images will also be described.
