Application of Tree based Model to a Model for Data Generation and Verification of Induced Rules and its Considerations

(in English) A conventional tree based method is a statistical method of constructing a classification model while recursively dividing a dataset based on explanatory variables relating to their response variable with some criteria for the response variable. Finally, this tree structure induces a lot of if-then rules with production forms. On the other hand, we proposed an if-then rule induction method based on STRIM (Statistical Test Rule Induction Method) which statistically interpreted the classical rough set theory, and studied the validity of STRIM based on a simulation model for data generation and verification of induced rules and the differences and/or relationships between the rule induction performances by the classical and STRIM. In this paper, the CART (Classification And Regression Trees) method which is a basic method of the tree based method is also studied based on the simulation model and its performance and problems are clarified by comparing with those of STRIM. Furthermore, both methods are applied to a real-world dataset and their performances and comparisons are considered in line with the results of the simulation.
