| (in English) | Media fingerprinting is a technique which identify a media sample or quickly locate similar parts in large media database. A media fingerprint is a condensed digital summary, which is extracted from media signal and a query fingerprint is compared with fingerprints stored in a reference database. Media fingerprints are analogous to human fingerprints because media fingerprints also tolerated for the small variations. Some media fingerprints are robust against the variation of signal in media editing, compression, distribution and recording environment. Other fingerprints can distinguish minor difference between an original edition and a revised edition. This paper explains the algorithm of a leading digital media fingerprinting: Robust Media Search Technology and the applications of those fingerprinting which is used in contents production, copyrights management, contents recommendation, rating research, second screen and anti-piracy. | |
